Mental Health First Aid Basic Course offered by Mental Health Safety Inc.
Mental Health First Aid Canada is an evidenced based course coordinated through the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
This 2 day, 12 hour training course will provide the learner with the knowledge, skills and confidence required to recognize and assist individuals who are showing signs of a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. This course does not train you to be a therapist, counselor or mental health professional.
- Definition and description of mental health problems such as substance abuse; depression; anxiety disorders and psychosis
- Signs and symptoms of common mental health problems and crisis situations
- A basic model of 5 actions to use in providing mental health first aid
- Information about effective interventions and treatments
- Self-care for the helper
Dates: June 13 & 14 , 2017 (Tuesday & Wednesday)
Time: 9am – 4pm (must attend full 12 hours – 2 days – to receive certificate)
Location: FESA ( Further Education Society Association)
Costs: $195 (+GST)
Includes first aid manual, refreshments -“Lunch on your own”
Class limit: 20 participants
